In May of 1979, father and son, Giuseppe and Onofrio Lorusso, founded Lorusso Cement Contractors, Inc. This family owned business began their venture by performing installation of public walks. At that time their equipment was very limited. They owned one pick up truck, two wheel barrels, a bunch of 2x6’s, some stakes, shovels, picks, and concrete finishing tools.

In 1980, the economy was suffering and work became scarce. Because they both had previous background experience in concrete curbs, and both concrete and asphalt roads, they made the decision to expand their services to include the installation of asphalt driveways.

In 1985, Giuseppe gave his blessing to his son, Onofrio, and left the family business. Through hard work and dedication, Onofrio continued to operate and expand the business. In 1998 he began performing excavation services with the start up of Dirtwerks Excavating, Inc., and in 2003, he began the installation of concrete foundations with the start up of Active Concrete, Inc.

Together, these companies can provide your organization with a full variety of construction services. We are able to perform our trades together, as a team. As a result, conflicts between the Excavation and Concrete contractor are eliminated, thus drastically reducing delays from unforeseen problems.
